Sensor Wires - There To Trigger Traffic Signals
Sensor Wires - There To Trigger Traffic Signals. If you look before you arrive at the stop line for a traffic signal, you will notice embedded black wires in the pavement immediately behind the white line or the cross walk. Often there are diagonal wires or circular wires embedded in the pavement that cover the distance of two or three cars in each of the lanes, including the left turn lane. These embedded wires are sensors which send information that there is a vehicle stopped on the wire which - if driver's are aware enough and STOP their vehicle with at least one tire on one of these wires, this speeds up the changing of the traffic signal to green. DUH! Here's your sign:) |
