Cippro & Other Antibiotics Cause Tendon Problems CNN and the major news media announced yesterday that the antibiotic CIPPRO and four other antibiotic prescription medications may cause tendonitis, including torn tendons especially the Achilles Tendon. I was recently on two rounds of CIPPRO for lung infection. Both of my Achilles Tendons began to hurt during this 20 day regimen. I thought I had turned my ankles and did not connect it to an antibiotic until hearing the news that the drug manufacturers must increase the warnings for these presecriptive antibiotics. The news media stated that the tendon problems are most pronounced in the elderly - of which I am one. If you have experienced the same problems I suggest you file a complaint with the FDA which was flooded with complaints regarding these different antibiotic medications forcing the news media to cover this story. It is also recommended that if you are currently taking an antibiotic and you are experiencing tendonitis, swelling, soreness or redness, immediately contact your physician for a change in your prescription.
